The family of Paul Coker who died in police custody on 6th August 2005, today welcomed the verdict of the jury at Southwark Coroners’ Court which was highly critical of the care and treatment Mr Coker received from the police and the police doctor.
Paul Coker, 32, died at Plumstead Police Station, two hours after he was arrested at the house of Lucy Chadwick, on suspicion of breaching the peace, in the early hours of August 6, 2005.
Inadequate training and communication between officers led to them failing to recognise the condition of a cocaine addict who died in police custody. Continue reading
